Moving to Norway

If you are new to Norway or thinking of moving to Norway, there are quite a few formalities to be aware of. A good starting point would be to check out NAV (The Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration): http://www.nav.no/English

The NAV website will provide you with useful information about finding work and welfare benefits.

Another useful resource to check out would be UDI (Norwegian Directorate of Immigration), which deals with residence and work permit issues.

Hi. My name is Louise and I am from and live in Ireland but want to work in Norway next summer. What do I have to do to work in Norway only for approximately 3 months?

Hi Louise, if you are planning on staying in Norway for longer than three months you need to register. You can do so via this link: https://www.udi.no/en/want-to-apply/the-registration-scheme-for-eueea-nationals/

If you haven’t already got a summer job, you are advised to start looking already in January.

Best of luck and I hope you will enjoy Norway.

    Eirik
